BBC World Service to recieve US Government funding

The US government is set to invest a ‘significant’ amount of money into the BBC World Service, as it bids to prevent the future blocking of TV and online services in countries around the world.

The Guardian repots that following recent blocks being put to public access media in countries such as Iran and China, the US Government is expected to agree a deal later this month with the BBC – thought to be worth six figures – in developing technology and software that will prevent future blocks being put in place.
