 <description>&lt;p&gt;Social network advertising neemt 10.8% in van de hele online markt in de VS. Marketeers in Amerika gaan in 2011 3,08 miljard uitgeven aan advertenties op sociale netwerk sites. Dat bedrag neemt toe met 55 procent van 1,99 miljard in 2010 en zal in 2012 toenemen met 27,7 procent naar 4 miljard. De voorspelling voor 2011 ligt 1 miljard hoger dan in augustus 2010 werd voorspeld, meld eMarketer zelf. Facebook is de grote aanjager: “The primary driver of the change in projected spending is greater ad spending on Facebook, by far the biggest player in the space.”&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;But Britain&#039;s 16 to 24-year-olds - the so-called Facebook generation - are lonelier than any other age group, researchers found yesterday.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;One in three said they were bored with their lives, compared to just eight per cent of pensioners, and 28 per cent complained that loneliness was making them unhappy.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>TV is going Social and Interactive; What about Radio?</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;It is estimated that 23% of American consumers will own a tablet by 2012 (up from an estimated 12% now).  Tablets are built to be interactive media devices (among other things) and their penetration will only promote the transformation of TV into an interactive experience, including interactive advertising.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;And the explosion of apps powered by mobile devices and tablets alike has enabled a slew of startups built around the proposition of socializing the TV experience.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>UK Radioplayer launches on Facebook</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;UK Radioplayer, the joint industry online player, has launched its service on Facebook for users who want to listen to the radio and recommend stations while interacting with friends online.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Radioplayer launched at the end of March with 157 stations from the BBC and commercial radio. There are now more than 250 stations available, many of which have fan and group pages on Facebook already.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Facebook Radioplayer app users can receive recommendations based on their friends listening habits as well as geographical recommendations based on where they live.&lt;/p&gt;

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Last July I left BBC Radio 5 live after six years and drove north to Luton. I hadn&#039;t worked in local radio since the early nineties, but the chance to run my nearest radio station was too good an opportunity to pass up.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Occupy KGO – radio listeners care</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;We already know that radio listeners feel incredibly close to their favourite radio station. Radio has a tremendously strong bond with its audience.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;When change happens at a radio station, most listeners accept the changes with a little grumbling. Sometimes, they write letters, or run a Facebook campaign. But it’s rare that they come down and demonstrate angrily outside: much less run an “Occupy”-type demonstration.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Slacker launches on-demand music service</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Slacker, the online radio service, is launching its long-awaited premium on-demand music service on Tuesday that lets subscribers listen to any of the 8 million songs in its catalog for about $10 a month.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The service, which competes with similar offerings from Rhapsody, Rdio, and MOG, is available on most iPhones, iPads, BlackBerries and smart phones that use the Android operating system. To entice folks to try out the new service, Slacker is giving away a limited number of subscriptions to those who visit its Facebook page.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Streaming your signal to the car. Still a challenge.</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Look around and you’ll see smartphones galore, but people aren’t just using them to surf the internet, check email, or update their Facebook status. Although in previous articles I have written about the growth of in-car streaming, there are still the proverbial pros and cons. In KnowDigital’s recent study, “Challenges and Opportunities for In-Car Streaming Radio,” they found that two-thirds of respondents listened to streaming radio in their cars, via the internet, and about 22% of Americans listen to some sort of streaming radio.&lt;/p&gt;

 <description>&lt;p&gt;According to audience measurement company comScore, the U.S. online display advertising market is growing like a weed. Data from the company’s Ad Metrix online ad intelligence service indicated that nearly 1.3 trillion display ads were delivered to U.S. Internet users during Q3 2010, marking a 22-percent increase compared to the same period last year.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The average U.S. Internet user was delivered more than 6,000 display ads over the course of the quarter. King of the hill is, perhaps unsurprisingly, Facebook.&lt;/p&gt;
